5 Things Every Parent Needs in Their Car #Giveaway

January 11, 2016 by Alisha 3 Comments

As a parent there are times that I feel like I need to just pack the entire house up and put it in my car.  -_- But that’s not really realistic, so today’s list will have to suffice…LOL!  Each year I say I’m going to become more organized and start clearing out clutter in my life.  Well each year I fail miserably but the one area that I always seem to keep it together is our car.

I don’t know about you, but there’s something about going from being single with a car to having kids with a car.  Gone are the days of no scuff marks on the back of the seats, random gooey sticky things in the floor, hairbows astray and the endless trail of snacks that never seems go away….never!  I think I found a cheerio the other day and lawd knows when the last time my youngest daughter had Cheerios in the car!

So today I’d like to share my 5 things every parent (guardian, sitter, nanny, baby daddy, grandparent…you get the picture) needs in their car.  Trust me…this list will help save your sanity and keep your car nice and neat. [Read more…]

healthy deviled eggs recipe alisha lampley coily locks yogurt

Sharing this recipe again since it’s one of our favs and a great way to kick off a healthier you for the New year!

It’s time to get out that grill and start enjoying this warmer weather!  Just because you’re eating healthier and working out doesn’t mean you can’t also have treats.  I LOVE deviled eggs but the mayo needed for the recipe is full of extra calories and fat.  My mom has been substituting yogurt in place of mayonnaise for years and it taste just as good if not better!

LuxeOrganix Conditioning Shampoo Review & Giveaway

December 18, 2015 by Alisha 4 Comments

One of the first things I discovered when I went natural was just how bad using shampoo was for my coils.  It’s not that shampooing your hair is the worst thing but those that contain sulfates are what strip your hair of the oils that it actually needs to help keep it healthy.  And if you’re like me with purple hair, then those sulfates will not only strip the oils but also the color!  Yea…ask me how I know!  -_- lol

I recently had a chance to try out LuxeOrganix Cleansing Conditioner Cowash and I LOVED it.  Refresh your hair and liberate it from the daily grind of everyday shampooing, while igniting your senses with this gentle, luxurious Refreshing Mint #CoWash Cleansing Conditioner. Enhanced with natural essential oils and botanicals that won’t strip your hair, color or scalp. Designed to protect and preserve your hair’s natural oils, while still gently cleansing and providing your hair with enhanced moisture. Hair styling becomes easier with this premium cowashing treatment. Woman Owned Company, Made in the USA with the highest quality ingredients.

I usually just cowash my hair with regular conditioner so I was pretty excited to try out this conditioner.  I recently got a sew-in and it was suggested by my friend Maria to just use conditioner to cleanse the hair. Here’s how I was looking before: [Read more…]

12 Ways to Add Holiday Sparkle to Your Relationship #KYTrySomethingNew

I don’t know about you, but December is one of the craziest months in our house!  Just after Thanksgiving, it seems like you have a million and one things to do to get prepared for the holidays.  My girls are 13 and 6 and while they are both COMPLETELY different the one thing that have in common is that they want all of my energy and efforts focused on them.

My husband and I have been together for over 20 years and married for 14!  Because our girls tend to be a bit “needier” this time of year, we try to be a bit more creative with making sure the spark is still hot! Here’s my list of 12 ways to avoid the stress and drama of this season and reignite a little magical holiday sparkle of your own!

  1. Leave love notes for your significant other.  There is nothing more romantic than receiving a note with a little message like “Meet me by the fire after the kids are in bed”.
  2. Hire a sitter.  Even if it’s just for a few hours, give your spouse a little bit of time to just recharge and enjoy some quiet time.
  3. Plan a date night and surprise your loved one!  Check out that jazz band you’ve heard about or try salsa dancing.  There is so much passion from salsa dancing.
  4. Dress in something that makes you feel sensual.  Put on that dress you know HE loves with some high heels and makeup.KY-Touch Dress Up
  5. Randomly stop and kiss your husband passionately.  Trust me that will definitely get his attention!
  6. Plan a date where the kids can come along.  There is nothing like seeing your spouse spoil on the kids as well as you!
  7. Tell your husband you love him…and mean it!  I know it sounds silly but sometimes we can get so caught up in the hustle of the holidays that we forget those 3 simple words.
  8. Share a fantasy with your spouse.
  9. Write them a note and tell them how much you appreciate them as a spouse and/or parent.K-Y Touch I love you
  10. Play a video game together.  Before we got married we would play these wrestling fighting games and all of that trash-talking would always lead to a fun evening!  This will also lead to tons of laughter…which is always fun!KY-Touch-marriage-fun-laughter-coilylocks
  11. Walk up behind your spouse, give them a tight hug and tell them how much you love and appreciate everything they do for you!
  12. Make a romantic gift box.  Include a few sensual things such as K-Y® TOUCH®, candles and a romantic comedy.K-Y(r) Touch(r)

You can pick up K-Y® TOUCH® at your local Walmart in the personal care section. What is even better is that right now K-Y® has a coupon for $2 off a package of the K-Y®. Looking forward to an amazing holiday season.

Here are a few things to keep in mind before you try K-Y®-TOUCH®:

  • Women who are pregnant or nursing should consult their healthcare provider before using.
  • If you have additional questions, consult your healthcare provider.

What are a few ways that you plan to spice up your holiday season?
