Quick & Easy Veggie Chili Recipe

September 27, 2019 by Alisha 4 Comments

I heard somewhere that Fall has officially begun  -_-

In Nashville its still fifty eleven hundred degrees outside and we’re dealing with a moderate drought.  So while I have the a/c blasting I can pretend it feels like fall and make one of my favorite dishes…chili!

The grocery store and I have a love/hate relationship.  I love food but hate grocery shopping.  LOL

Year before last I was vegan for the entire year! I noticed how much better I felt and even lost some weight!  One of the hardest things in the beginning was trying to figure out how to get what I needed without going to a specialty grocery store.

Chili is one of my favorite comfort foods and its super easy to make.  I typically have most of the ingredients in my pantry and just need fresh vegetables.

Mull Over the Holidays with the Perfect Drink – Mulled Sweet Wine with Cognac

November 21, 2016 by Alisha 4 Comments

I don’t know about you but this time of year always seems to creep up so dang quick!  A few days ago it was almost 80 degrees in Nashville and now its in the lower 50s.  Mother Nature can’t seem to get her life together and let folks deal with temperature changes gradually.  She likes to just toy with our emotions and drop the temp 30 degrees overnight.

The good part of this sudden arctic blast of air is that now I can actually get myself into the holiday season.  The bad part is that even the cold weather isn’t getting rid of my Grinch mood.  If it wasn’t for being a parent I would probably just throw a Christmas wreath on the front door and call it a day.  I’m determined to wait until Thanksgiving before we put the tree up and I’ve got the perfect drink to get me in the mood.

Last year I shared a mulled wine recipe and it was a big hit.  This year we are kicking it up a notch by adding cognac.  If you’re planning to host parties this year, this drink will be sure to get everyone in the holiday spirit!  And the best part about making this drink is that you don’t need any fancy ingredients that can only be found at that one store 20 miles away and cost a small fortune.

Ingredients:
  • 2 cups good red wine
  • 1/2 cup cognac
  • 1/4 rosemary honey
  • 2 1/2 cups honey crisp apple cider
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • orange slices
  •  6 whole cloves

Motivation Monday | Healthy Deviled Eggs Recipe

*Disclaimer:  I am not a food blogger so please excuse my pitiful picture!*

healthy deviled eggs recipe alisha lampley coily locks yogurt

Sharing this recipe again since it’s one of our favs and a great way to kick off a healthier you for the New year!

It’s time to get out that grill and start enjoying this warmer weather!  Just because you’re eating healthier and working out doesn’t mean you can’t also have treats.  I LOVE deviled eggs but the mayo needed for the recipe is full of extra calories and fat.  My mom has been substituting yogurt in place of mayonnaise for years and it taste just as good if not better!
