My favorite time of year is fall.  The intense heat and humidity are a thing of the past, the leaves are changing colors and there are so many fun outdoor activities to enjoy!  Last year I took the girls to a corn maze and we had a blast.  This year I wanted to switch it up a bit and I’ve been hearing about Lucky Ladd Farms for years.  Located minutes south of Nashville, Tennessee, Lucky Ladd Farms is 60 acres of fun owned by Jason and Amy Ladd.  Today the Ladd Family is excited to provide a wholesome source of family entertainment for thousands of visitors each year.

There are so many fun things for the entire family to enjoy.  The farm has a corn maze, petting zoo and pumpkin patch just to name a few!   The farm opens September 17th through November 6, 2022. The hours are Thursday through Saturday 10am-4pm and Sunday 12pm-5pm. Purchase Discount Tickets Online to Secure Your Spot. Ticket availability not guaranteed at gate for walk-ups. [Read more…]

Christmas in Santa Claus, Indiana!

December 24, 2021 by Alisha 4 Comments

*Disclaimer:  I was provided with complimentary lodging and tickets.  No other compensation was provided.*

A few weekends ago the girls and I took a little road trip from Nashville to Santa Claus, Indiana.  It’s a perfect drive because takes less than 3 hours to get there.  I’m all about road trips that are under 4 hours!

Now if you’re anything like my friend Natasha of Houseful of Nicholes then this is definitely the place for you. The town is spreads holiday joy 365 days a year.  A fun fact about the name of the town is that they were originally going to be named Santa Fe but there was already a town by that name in Indiana.

Spencer County Visitor’s Bureau was gracious enough to reach out again and took charge by planning a great weekend of fun for my daughters, mom and me.  We hung out in the city for 3 days 2 nights and were hosted by Santa’s Lodge.  The front part of the hotel used to be a barn and the rest of the hotel was added on.  The hotel has a restaurant, Santa’s Toy Shop, a gift shop and indoor pool.  Everything you need is almost within walking distance but this time of year its a bit chilly so its better to hop in the car.

5 Places You Don’t Want to Miss When Visiting Santa Claus, Indiana for the Holidays!

December 11, 2017 by Alisha 1 Comment

*Disclaimer:  I was provided with complimentary lodging and tickets.  No other compensation was provided.*

Last weekend the girls and I were invited to spend the weekend in Santa Claus, Indiana.  If you know anything about me then you know I’m pretty much a Grinch and a bit of a Scrooge.  I don’t try to be but something about this time of year just stresses me out and makes me want to hurry the month along.

When the Spencer County Visitor’s Bureau reached out to me I took this as a sign that maybe I need to stop being so Bah Humbug about the Christmas season and try to just roll with the flow.  I mean the city is named Santa Claus  so clearly it’s going to be festive and get you in the mood to enjoy the holidays.

Lake Rudolph Campground & R.V. Resort

The girls and I stayed at Lake Rudolph Campground & R.V. Nashville Solar Eclipse Viewing Party with Scholastic & Holiday Inn

August 16, 2017 by Alisha Leave a Comment

On Aug. 21, Scholastic and Holiday Inn Nashville-Vanderbilt are teaming up to celebrate the first total solar eclipse in nearly 100 years and experience this unique celestial event. The hotel is along the eclipse totality line, providing families with the optimal view of this rare celestial occurrence. Kids and parents alike will learn about space with the “Magic School Bus Presents: Our Solar System” book while cherishing this unforgettable moment together. There will be space-themed crafts, story time and photo ops with Scholastic characters and special glasses provided for guests to ensure optimal eclipse viewing. The solar eclipse viewing party is complimentary for hotel guests.   My family and I have also been invited to join in on this historic event!

This event is part of the Holiday Inn brand’s Summer of Smiles program, a new offering that provides in-hotel experiences curated for families complete with entertainment for all! These special occasions are the perfect way to spend quality time together and create lasting memories.

You might be asking yourself “What exactly is a solar eclipse?” This event occurs when the moon passes between the sun and Earth and blocks all or part of the sun for up to about three hours, from beginning to end, as viewed from a given location. For this eclipse, the longest period when the moon completely blocks the sun from any given location along the path will be about two minutes and 40 seconds. The last time the contiguous U.S. saw a total eclipse was in 1979.
