JoyJolt Gifts for the Wine & Coffee Lover in Your Life!

November 30, 2018 by Alisha 3 Comments

If you’re not a wine drinker (or have little knowledge about it) trying to find the perfect gift for the wine lover in your life can be intimidating!  Should I get stemless, ones for red or white wine and what the heck does a decanter do and why does anyone need it?!?!  These are all things that would leave me confused too when I started to introduce myself into the world of wine.

And on the flip side there are a million and one different ways that one can enjoy their favorite coffee or espresso.  When I’m working from home I typically like to use one of my cups with a lid because I swear the phone rings as SOON as I take one sip.  But on the days when I can enjoy it in piece, I like to sip leisurely using my “fancy glasses”.

JoyJolt has some amazing items for giving gifts or treating yourself!  I had a chance to try out the decanter, stemless wine glasses and insulated espresso mugs.

My favorite item was the Cigno Red Wine Decanter.  This decanter has a wide 50oz base which helps optimize aeration for the wines it holds.  Now you may be sitting there thinking other than looking pretty, what the heck does a decanter do?!?!  Decanting is when you basically pour from one bottle to another (in this case the decanter).  When you do this it helps to separate the sediment that has settled in the bottle.  Another reason a decanter is important is that young wines  can give off an unpleasant taste and aeration helps with this.  Now if you’ve got (and can afford) a 50 year old bottle of wine, other than being a pretty centerpiece you can probably skip using a decanter LOL.

Hickies Take the Work Out of Having to Tie Your Laces!

November 13, 2018 by Alisha Leave a Comment

*I was provided with several pairs of Hickies for review and this post contains affiliate links.  I will use money made toward my travel fund.* 🙂

Most of the time if I’m not wearing a slip-on shoe then I’m wearing my Nike’s.  And not until I received Hickies did I realize how much I treat my Nike’s like slip-ons!  But now I can switch out my laces for a pair of hot pink Hickies  and not even worry about having to tie and untie my laces.  No I don’t run, cycle or do anything remotely athletic but who wants to waste precious time worrying about shoelaces.  Ain’t nobody got time for that!

When I wear laces with these shoes I typically leave this one of the eyelets empty.  With the Hickies I only needed to use 4 for each shoe.  After wearing them for a little while I ended up trying one of the other ways to lace them and the fit was much better.  Takes a little bit of trial and error in the beginning before you figure out which is the best lacing system for you.  And no matter whether you have a wide or narrow foot, you can lace them up to suit your personal needs.  Each pair of laces come with a handy guide to show you different ways to make them tighter or looser.  Also if you have long fingernails you’re gonna end up cussing trying to pull the Hickies through.  Luckily (or not luckily) I had to cut one of my thumb nails down pretty low so it made it a lot easier to pull them through the eyelet.

Polly Pocket’s Tiny is Mighty Mall Tour is Coming to Nashville

October 31, 2018 by Alisha 2 Comments

Since I was born in the early 70s I didn’t get to enjoy the hype of Polly Pockets but I always thought they were so cool!  I would see kids discussing their love of the teeny toys and how much fun they were.  If you were a fan of this compact phenomenon back in the 90s, then now is your chance to share the fun with your kids and get a look at Polly Pocket’s world.

Mattel relaunched Polly Pocket this year with a new product line accompanied by an animated series to introduce a new generation to the world of Polly.  The series follows Polly and her friends as they embrace big adventures in a shrunken size, thanks to Polly’s magic locket.   Polly Pocket continues to inspire girls to be capable, courageous and tenacious in their own lives, just like her.

Polly Pocket Tiny is Mighty tour is going to have a ton of activities for both kids and their parents, as a way to celebrate the relaunch of Polly Pocket and for Polly to continue to inspire kids all over the world. [Read more…]

How Do Some People Make Parenting Look So Easy?

September 28, 2018 by Alisha 1 Comment

This post is sponsored by the Center for Parent and Teen Communication.  All opinions are my own.

THEN

How you would fall asleep in your car seat after being in the car for about 1 mile.  How I was convinced you were reading before age 2 because you memorized Goodnight Moon.  How you would make this adorable face when we said “make the mean face”.

Now

How you get ready and drive yourself to your first job.  How you help your little sister with her math homework.  How you discuss your political views and current events with such poise that it brings me so much joy about the young woman that you’re becoming.

While I’d love for you to be my little girl forever I know that at some point I have to let you go and grow on your own.
