3 Budget Friendly Cocktail Recipes with Fun Wine®

May 22, 2020 by Alisha 1 Comment

*Must be 21+ to visit Fun Wine®*

Remember back in the old days when you could just meet up with your friends and hit up your favorite spot for cocktails out on the patio?  Oh the memories of just a few months ago…

Seriously who knew that our worlds would be turned upside down and changed so much that our new normal has become what it is today!  If you’re like me then you know the show must go on but now it just looks a bit, shall we say…different?  Fun Wine® reached out to me  with three of their award-winning flavors: Red Sangria, Strawberry Rose Moscato and Coconut Chardonnay.  The best is that they are all low-calorie, low-alcohol and budget-friendly.  Artist and Designer Miguel Paredes brought his sense of New York Graffiti art to these three bottles and its like having my own little art gallery on display but on wine bottles.  Win-win!

I have three easy recipes that I wanted to share with you to add a bit of fun to your at home cocktails.  I ended up making Miguel’s Colada.  Took me just a few minutes to make and was so good.  I even played some Caribbean music while I enjoyed it on my pation.

Miguel’s Colada

2 oz Barcelo rum

Frozen pineapple or coconut

 Fun Wine’s Coconut Chardonnay

Blend all ingredients until frosty and serve on a chilled glass

The next recipe is Chocolate Strawberry Negroni.  This one totally reminds me of chocolate covered strawberries!

Chocolate Strawberry Negroni

1 oz Aperol Spritz or Campari

Dash Chocolate Bitters

4 oz Fun Wine’s Strawberry Rose Moscato

Serve on rocks

And the last recipe just calls for a chilled bottle or serve over ice!  Can’t get any easier than that!

Which cocktail would you make first?  If you decide to try out  Fun Wine® be sure to visit them on instagram at @funwineofficial or their website funwine.com. Be sure to also tag #FUNathome if you share any pictures on social media too!

*I was provided with complementary bottles of wine. All opinions are my own. Drink responsibly.*

In Nashville, we’ve been having record setting highs.  So basically it’s not even officially summer yet and it feels like the pits of Hades outside.  Add no rain for over a week to this heat and its just miserable out there.  But one way to stay cool and enjoy a grown up treat is with a little wine slushie!  Now if you’ve been following me for any amount of time you know that I love me some wine!  One of my favorite sayings is “Everyone needs to believe in something… I believe I’ll have another glass of wine!”

JoyJolt Gifts for the Wine & Coffee Lover in Your Life!

November 30, 2018 by Alisha 3 Comments

If you’re not a wine drinker (or have little knowledge about it) trying to find the perfect gift for the wine lover in your life can be intimidating!  Should I get stemless, ones for red or white wine and what the heck does a decanter do and why does anyone need it?!?!  These are all things that would leave me confused too when I started to introduce myself into the world of wine.

And on the flip side there are a million and one different ways that one can enjoy their favorite coffee or espresso.  When I’m working from home I typically like to use one of my cups with a lid because I swear the phone rings as SOON as I take one sip.  But on the days when I can enjoy it in piece, I like to sip leisurely using my “fancy glasses”.

JoyJolt has some amazing items for giving gifts or treating yourself!  I had a chance to try out the decanter, stemless wine glasses and insulated espresso mugs.

My favorite item was the Cigno Red Wine Decanter.  This decanter has a wide 50oz base which helps optimize aeration for the wines it holds.  Now you may be sitting there thinking other than looking pretty, what the heck does a decanter do?!?!  Decanting is when you basically pour from one bottle to another (in this case the decanter).  When you do this it helps to separate the sediment that has settled in the bottle.  Another reason a decanter is important is that young wines  can give off an unpleasant taste and aeration helps with this.  Now if you’ve got (and can afford) a 50 year old bottle of wine, other than being a pretty centerpiece you can probably skip using a decanter LOL.

Happy National Margarita Day!

February 22, 2018 by Alisha Leave a Comment

Known to be the most common tequila-based cocktail served in the United States, the margarita is a cocktail that typically consists of tequila, triple sec and lime or lemon juice.  A margarita on the rocks can pack anywhere from 450 to 800 calories, but Sparkling Ice makes it easy to make great-tasting margarita with only a fraction of the calories.  That way you have more room to indulge in more cocktails or eat more food.  The choice is yours…LOL!

On this fun day I’m sharing some great recipes that will take your margarita drinks to the next level and the hit of the party.  My favorite is the Spicy Sparkling Margarita!  Yummmmmmmm 😛

Spicy Sparkling Margarita

INGREDIENTS

2 parts Blanco Tequila

½ part Cointreau

3 slices of Jalapeño pepper

Juice of 1/8 lime

1 ½ parts Sparkling Ice Lemon Lime

DIRECTIONS

Shake Tequila, Cointreau, lime juice and peppers with ice. Pour into rocks glass with salted rim and lime wedge. Top with Sparkling Ice Lemon Lime. [Read more…]
