Christmas in Santa Claus, Indiana!

December 24, 2021 by Alisha 4 Comments

*Disclaimer:  I was provided with complimentary lodging and tickets.  No other compensation was provided.*

A few weekends ago the girls and I took a little road trip from Nashville to Santa Claus, Indiana.  It’s a perfect drive because takes less than 3 hours to get there.  I’m all about road trips that are under 4 hours!

Now if you’re anything like my friend Natasha of Houseful of Nicholes then this is definitely the place for you. The town is spreads holiday joy 365 days a year.  A fun fact about the name of the town is that they were originally going to be named Santa Fe but there was already a town by that name in Indiana.

Spencer County Visitor’s Bureau was gracious enough to reach out again and took charge by planning a great weekend of fun for my daughters, mom and me.  We hung out in the city for 3 days 2 nights and were hosted by Santa’s Lodge.  The front part of the hotel used to be a barn and the rest of the hotel was added on.  The hotel has a restaurant, Santa’s Toy Shop, a gift shop and indoor pool.  Everything you need is almost within walking distance but this time of year its a bit chilly so its better to hop in the car.

Enjoy These Hot Temps with Wreck Beach Boozie Freezies

August 31, 2021 by Alisha Leave a Comment

I don’t know about you but this year (heck last 18 months) has been quite the sh*t show!  If you know then you know what I’m talking about and it deserves no explanation.

A lot of my travel plans were a bust this summer so I decided to make the most of it any way I could.  Last year I redid my patio and made it into my own little oasis. I figured since I wouldn’t be able to go to a resort why not bring the resort to me.  I mean its not really the same but add food, music and some libations and a girl can dream.

Wreck Beach Spirits reached out to me about their products and it couldn’t have come at a better time.  School is back in session, my oldest moved out & got her own apartment and I can finally enjoy some free time to myself during the day.

Alana Thomson, Founder of Wreck Beach Spirits, is known for selling her bootlegged popsicles with alcohol at a world-famous clothing-optional beach. I’m going to need a lot of these before I end up on a clothing optional beach…LOL! The name of Wreck Beach Spirits was inspired where the products got their start, Wreck Beach in Vancouver, Canada. This beach is an internationally-acclaimed 7.8 km long. Wreck Beach Spirits is a female-run, craft alcoholic beverage company.

The four flavors of Boozie Freezies are:

  • Brisky Frisky Daiquiri: Rum Just had a Snowball Fight With Strawberries, Lemons, and Limes.
  • Glacier Margarita: An Icy-Cold Twist on the Southwest’s Best. Blue Agave Spirit, Lime, And Salt.
  • Sunshine On the Rocks: A Tropi-Gold Fruit Twist Over Vodka Coconut Creme, and a Kiss of Sweetness.
  • VodkaBerry Snow: Refreshment Takes a Vodka Splash Through Tart-Sweet Citrus and Berries.

*Nutritional information is calculated per Wreck Beach Boozie Freezie.

  • Brisky Frisky Daiquiri – 90 calories, 0g fat, 0mg cholesterol, 0mg sodium, 18g carbohydrates. Contains 7% alcohol/volume.
  • Glacier Margarita – 70 calories, 0g fat, 0mg cholesterol, 250mg sodium, 10g carbohydrates. Contains 7% alcohol/volume.
  • Sunshine On the Rocks – 120 calories, 0g fat, 0mg cholesterol, 0mg sodium, 26g carbohydrates. Contains 7% alcohol/volume.
  • VodkaBerry Snow – 90 calories, 0g fat, 0mg cholesterol, 0mg sodium, 32g carbohydrates. Contains 7% alcohol/volume.

My favorite of the 4 was Glacier Margarita and Brisky Frisky got its name honest! It had a bit of a sour kick (lemon) to it that you’ll see when I tried it in the video.

Summer is pretty much over here but the hot temps will last at least another month or two in Nashville! So if you need me I’ll be on the patio enjoying my Boozie Freeizies!

Be sure to check out Wreck Beach to order your own box and enjoy a childhood tradition with a twist! Boozie Freezies can also be found in Texas, Florida, California, Indiana, Illinois, South Carolina, Colorado and New York.

How to Get Your Patio Hot Girl Summer Ready with Island Blooms Plants from Walmart!

June 10, 2021 by Alisha Leave a Comment

*This post is sponsored by Costa Farms and Walmart. All opinions are my own.*

If you’ve been with me for a while you know I got into plants and gardening last year.  And by got into them I went down the rabbit hole of the botanical world and went from zero plants to about 50 inside and a raised garden bed and about 20 on the patio….oops!

A lot of times I like to peruse different nurseries so I can touch and feel the plants and see what grabs my attention. I think I’ve hit just about every plant shop and big box store within 30 minutes of me and decided I wanted to see if ordering online would be just as much fun.  And to my surprise I LOVED online shopping for plants.  [Read more…]

3 Reasons Why Online Tutoring Was the Best for My Sanity!

June 2, 2021 by Alisha 1 Comment

*This is a sponsored post. All opinions are my own.*

Listen…not only was 2020 one of the worst years with a global pandemic it was also a year that I had to become a “virtual” teacher due to school being closed.  There is a reason I changed my major from Elementary Education fifty eleven years ago.  That reason is that I realize I do not have the patience of a Saint and therefore me trying to help my child with their school work was setting her up for failure and me up for a nervous breakdown!

My oldest daughter finished school early and graduated last year. So luckily she missed out on the hot mess that everything in the spring semester became. My youngest daughter was left with me trying to figure out how to help her and us both becoming frustrated. I knew with this school year we would need the assistance of a tutor because my way of teaching was not getting us anywhere.

I’ve always been interested in finding her a tutor but some of the places in our area would cost over $1000 a month.  For that price I’m going to need you basically being a one-on-one teacher for my child and not just a tutor!  EBO Educational Services reached out to me about their tutoring services and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience for my daughter.  The tutor we met with took the time to get to know Morgan and even got her out of her shell a bit.  He asked a lot of open ended questions to try and gauge what was going on, her favorite subjects and where she felt she was struggling the most.  I loved that he took the time get to know her so because this will best help him figure out the most effective way to help tutor her.  [Read more…]
