LEGO® KidsFest is the Ultimate Adventure for LEGO Fans

April 18, 2015 by Alisha 2 Comments

*My family and I were given tickets to attend the LEGO® KidsFest in Nashville in exchange for promotion.  All opions expressed are my own*

A few weeks ago I did a post about LEGO® KidsFest coming to Nashville April 17th-19th.  We had the chance to attend during the opening night and we had a blast.  If you have a LEGO lover in your house, it is definitely the place to be!  From the minute you walk through the doors, you are greeted by life-size LEGO creations.  I can only imagine how much time and effort went into not only making the “sculptures” but also the time just designing one!

You Won’t Believe What I Did to Sybil!

April 13, 2015 by Alisha 13 Comments

For the last year or so I’ve been lusting for some time of change to take Sybil to the next level.  After my “Can I make it a year” without cutting my hair challenge I thought getting a new cut would pacify my need for a drastic change.  That lasted for a few months before I started scouring Pinterest and Instagram for some inspiration.

Last year I had a wild hair up my butt that I wanted to dye it pink.  I wanted to do it in support of my mom having a double mastectomy after she was diagnosed with breast cancer.  That quickly changed when I realized that I might end up looking like chocolate dipped straw with cotton candy on top!

So back to the drawing board I went!  Several of my curlfriends on instagram have been sporting purple and blue hair and I just knew that would be perfect for Sybil.  I reached out to a stylist I’ve been following for a while via IG and told her that when I was in Orlando, she would have to hook me up. Alana AKA Primadonna_Lana on IG decided purple would be a good choice for me and I’m so glad she picked it!

Now in order to get Sybil to a rich and vibrant purple we first had to lift my brown.  Now when I say lift…I mean we had to L I F T it to blonde.  WOW is all I can say when I saw my reflection in the mirror. LOL [Read more…]

Why did MY daughter have to get Vitiligo?

Why did my daughter have to get Vitiligo?  That’s a question that I’ve struggled with a lot over this last year.  As parents we want nothing but the best for our children.  We want them to be happy, love life and healthy.  With everything going on in the world, I feel guilty at times for always asking “Why her” or “What did I do wrong?”  Last year I did a post on Helping Children Deal with Vitiligo.  When I wrote that piece my 5-year-old daughter was just started to show signs of having vitiligo.  I noticed white spots on her hands and feet and dismissed them as scars since they were so small.  As the Summer ended and she spent more time outdoors, I noticed those white spots got larger and started to spread to other parts of her body. I would like to thank US Family Guide for this awesome opportunity to attend this event right here in my city.  And the best part is that I also have two (2) tickets to give to one of my lucky readers!

The LEGO® KidsFest national tour stops at Music City Center in Nashville from April 17 – 19, 2015, for the very first time, bringing all of the creative hands-on, minds-on fun of LEGO building and experiences together in this three acre activity and entertainment-packed family event. [Read more…]
