I Dribble, But I Don’t Play Basketball #ad #vn #underwareness

I am participating in a Vibrant Influencer network campaign for the Depend brand. I am receiving a fee for posting; however, the opinions expressed in this post are my own. I am in no way affiliated with Depend and do not earn a commission or percent of sales.

I dribble, but I don’t play basketball.  Last month I shared a topic that NO ONE likes to admit to having…bladder leakage!  Phew, ok I said it and now I want you to know that you are not alone.  Depend-Coilylocks [Read more…]

My Daughter Wants to Hide Her Skin

May 4, 2015 by Alisha 46 Comments

Last month I took a leap of faith and decided to add a new segment to the blog for vitiligo awareness.  I was overwhelmed by the support from my fellow bloggers and my awesome readers.  Today I had planned to talk about how important sun safety is when you have vitiligo, but I wanted to switch gears after I started to notice something I was seeing in Morgan.

As the weeks pass by the weather has been getting warmer in our part of the country, but my daughter still insisted on wearing a sweater and leggings with her skirts to school.  I didn’t really pay much attention to it until it got hot!  So I finally asked her if she didn’t want anyone to see her beauty spots.  At first she dismissed it and then said yes.  I can’t even tell you all how much that hurt me inside.  I’ve been trying to approach talking about her vitiligo with her delicately because I know she’s not comfortable when I ask her about it.  I asked her if any of the kids said anything to her and she said yes but couldn’t remember.   [Read more…]

You Won’t Believe What Happens When I Sneeze! #ad #vn #underwareness

You won’t believe what happens when I sneeze…or laugh too hard or exercise vigorously.  Oh the joys of having children and getting older.  *sigh*

I want to share a secret with you all that a lot of women, especially younger ones, are too embarrassed to mention.  Over 51  million American women experience bladder leakage. That’s 1 in 3 American women and I happen to one of those 51 million women!  There are many common causes of bladder leakage in women including pregnancy, childbirth and even diabetes.  For me, my issues started when I was pregnant with my first daughter.  I even had my midwife check me to make sure my amniotic fluid wasn’t leaking.  Talk about embarrassing!  In my case I was dealing with bladder leakage.  I always assumed this was an issue for people that were A LOT older than me.  Boy was I wrong!

Not only did I have to deal with this issue when I sneezed or coughed but now it was interfering with me trying to stay fit.  This is where I draw the line.  It was either lay off working out and pack on some unnecessary pounds or try to get my sexy back and risk “tinkling my undies” while exercising.  Neither would be a good look, but thankfully there are ways to help deal with this.

To support the over 51 million women who experience bladder leakage, the Depend brand is introducing Depend Silhouette Active Fit briefs, a new moderate-absorbency brief that features a thin design for complete comfort with the trusted protection of the Depend brand and a lower rise+for an underwear-like look, fit and feel.   [Read more…]
