xfinity on demand

When I think back to getting cable in the 80s, I think about all of the choices we got when it came to our television.  Can you believe that those choices consisted of about 30 channels?

Life is about choices – you choose what you want to wear, what you want to eat, what you’re going to do this weekend…don’t you want to be able to choose from the most options on TV?  XFINITY’s On Demand choices will blow you away with nearly 130,000 more choices than Google Fiber.   [Read more…]

Our Trip to Batey Farms #NaBloPoMo

November 18, 2015 by Alisha 4 Comments

A few weeks ago my daughters and I were invited by Janice of JanicePerson (blog), who works for Monsanto, to visit Batey Farms which is about 40 miles just outside of Nashville, TN.  Part of one of the farms is located directly across the street from one of my favorite shopping centers and I’d always wondered they grew.

Batey Farm

Janice and I “cheesin” inside the Batey Farms store.

Batey Farms is an 8th generation family owned and operated hog, row crop, and hay farm that prides itself on being noble stewards of the land and animals that they have the pleasure to care for.

Since 1807 dating back to a Revolutionary war land grant, their farm has been in production agriculture. They have continued to grow and take advantage of new technologies that date back to running water and electricity to new age GPS, field mapping, data collection and variable rate seed, fertilizer and chemical placement to ensure that they are doing all that they can to provide a secure and safe environment for our animals, our family and for all those around us!

Batey FarmsI’m pretty sure in another life my youngest daughter lived in the wilderness.  There is no other explanation for why that child loves to be outdoors so much.  I am not an outdoorsy person and as soon as we got out the car at the farm she took off running like the wild child she is.  She explored the entire farm and even had a chance to sit in a tractor and get an up close look at what soybeans look like still in the field. In our house sports are a HUGE part of my husband’s life.  Every football season I start off by paying my respects to myself and all of the football widows out there.

Football Widow

So basically for 4 months my husband is glued to the tv until after Superbowl.  The girls and I typically use Sundays as our bonding time where we spend his money so that he can hang at home and curse The Titans about how poorly they are playing.  LOL  No matter how bad they are doing, he’s a die-hard fan and the only thing that might get him to leave is if the house were on fire. adoramix metal picture

If you’re like me, then you are most likely planning your annual holiday family portrait.  We’ve been slacking in my house and our last picture was 2 years ago…oops!  So this year I’m making sure to get it done early next month so that I can have prints made for our Christmas pictures, that may or may not ever get mailed out.  -_-  But I digressed!   [Read more…]
