Origami Owl necklaces and bracelets make the perfect gift!

November 5, 2013 by Alisha 5 Comments

No matter where I go, people always seem to take notice of my Origami Owl locket. My favorite part is actually watching the excitement unfold as I give them away as birthday, wedding, and thank you gifts.  Imagine you giving the perfect gift – a locket or bracelet with 3-5 charms inside – such as a book, music instrument, a child’s birthstone, occupation, faith, or their most treasured cause – that tells the story of their life. That would make me feel amazing to receive a gift that was customized especially for me.

My Name is Alisha, Independent Designer for Origami Owl and I’m located right smack dab in the middle of Tennessee in Nashville and I would love to help you find the make the perfect gift for your teacher, mailman, fitness instructor, family member or for yourself!  The best part is that you can host a party in the comfort of your home, via Facebook, in your office or anywhere you choose!

Christmas is now 50 days away and before you know it you’ll be stressing out about what gift to get.  Don’t wait to the last second and miss out on all the goodies that end up being placed on the back order list.  If you’re still trying to figure out the perfect gift, here are a few examples that are sure to please just about everyone.

Where the hell did my mojo go?!?!

November 3, 2013 by Alisha 10 Comments

Lawd have mercy!  So for the last 2 weeks I have completely lacked in the motivation department when it come to exercising.  I don’t know if it’s the seasons changing, getting older or what?  But I realized I need to get back on it and get back to doing my Zumba and lifting weights.  I mean I can only keep up this sexiness for so long before it starts to revert.  And in the immortal words of Sweet Brown, “ain’t nobody got time for dat!”

So whenever I need some motivation or ideas I usually turn to Google for inspiring articles or Pinterest.  Well neither one of those were cutting it for me.  But what did get me motivated was all the hysterical Google images I found.  For me, humor always wins over some scientific bull crap or pictures of some person with 1.5% body fat telling me what to do.  I like to keep things real and in perspective.  I hope the following images give you a chuckle and the boost you need if you’ve fallen off the wagon like me.

Blogalicious 5…where do I begin with my recap?!?!

October 22, 2013 by Alisha 13 Comments

blogalicious 5 photo sverve

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending my first Blogalicious Conference.  None of this would have been possible without the support of my sponsor, Sverve!  Sverve is a growing network of thousands of female influencers.  Sverve is a great platform for social media influencers to build their profile and get noticed by brands, marketers and users. The best way to do it is by specifying your areas of influence on your profile. You can connect your tips with your areas of influence so that users and brands can see your passion, knowledge, and influence in that area.  If you are on Sverve or want to join, please look me up and follow me!

Now on to my recap!  Where do I begin…  The conference span over 3 days with keynote speakers, a pop-up shop, a chance to connect and meet with brands and lots of partying!  LOL

ZuriWorks for Women's Health Logo

ZuriWorks is a non-profit that teaches women affected by cancer to use art and their voices to become effective advocates for cancer awareness and education.

The ZuriWork’s Exposures Project is a photo education exhibit shot by cancer survivors. It depicts survival stories of women that would otherwise go untold. Portraying African-American women battling cancer, the Exposures Projects provides a fresh perspective on cancer and redefines what it means to be a survivor.  In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, ZuriWorks is raising awareness with the Big Chop to Stop Cancer, a natural hair and art event.  Join them for the Big Chop to Stop Cancer Anniversary Benefit on Thursday October 24, 2013 from 6-9 pm at 1776 (1133 15th Street NW Suite 1200 Washington, DC 20005).

Tickets are complementary and food & entertainment is included. RSVP today at www.bigchop.eventbrite.com.
