Our Trip to Batey Farms #NaBloPoMo

November 18, 2015 by Alisha 4 Comments

A few weeks ago my daughters and I were invited by Janice of JanicePerson (blog), who works for Monsanto, to visit Batey Farms which is about 40 miles just outside of Nashville, TN.  Part of one of the farms is located directly across the street from one of my favorite shopping centers and I’d always wondered they grew.

Batey Farm

Janice and I “cheesin” inside the Batey Farms store.

Batey Farms is an 8th generation family owned and operated hog, row crop, and hay farm that prides itself on being noble stewards of the land and animals that they have the pleasure to care for.

Since 1807 dating back to a Revolutionary war land grant, their farm has been in production agriculture. They have continued to grow and take advantage of new technologies that date back to running water and electricity to new age GPS, field mapping, data collection and variable rate seed, fertilizer and chemical placement to ensure that they are doing all that they can to provide a secure and safe environment for our animals, our family and for all those around us!

Batey FarmsI’m pretty sure in another life my youngest daughter lived in the wilderness.  There is no other explanation for why that child loves to be outdoors so much.  I am not an outdoorsy person and as soon as we got out the car at the farm she took off running like the wild child she is.  She explored the entire farm and even had a chance to sit in a tractor and get an up close look at what soybeans look like still in the field. The Best Blogs in Nashville! #NaBloPoMo

November 13, 2015 by Alisha 7 Comments

Nashville BlogersCoilylocks (now known as Wine’ing Momma) has been around for about 7 years but I didn’t really start to get serious about blogging until 2 years ago.  After I attended my first conference, Blogalicious, I was hooked.  I was in awe at all of the talented people who I met from literally all over the world.  And what was even cooler was meeting some of the people who had become internet friends in real life.

Little did I know that there was an amazing community of bloggers, writers and social influencers right here in Nashville.  I’ve had the opportunity to make some new connections with brands and friendships because of this group of local women. [Read more…]

If I Had a Personal Assistant #NaBloPoMo

November 12, 2015 by Alisha 11 Comments

As a mom, heck as a grown up period, there are like a million trillion things that I dread I have to do each day.  If I had a personal assistant, here’s a list of all that crap that I’d have them do:

  1. My youngest daughter’s hair!!!  *no explanation needed*  LOLBig Hair Don't Care Coilylocks
  2. Someone to do laundry.  It’s not so much that I don’t like washing clothes, it’s the folding, putting up…blah blah blah.  Yea I won’t even mention how I still have two loads of clothes sitting in my basket that have yet to be put up -_-
  3. Going to the grocery store.  Ok so for this one I’m thankful that my husband (for some odd reason) likes grocery shopping.  I despise everything about it and would rather run a marathon than go buy groceries.
  4. Cook.  If it wasn’t for my kids I would probably have a house full of box mac-n-cheese, cereal and stuff to make sandwiches.
  5. Helping with homework.  There’s a reason I switched my major from Elementary Education.
  6. Clean the house.  This is right up there with grocery shopping.  I feel like my house is being taken over by Barbies and art supplies.
  7. Make my wine runs for me.  I swear I always seem to run out when Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder are coming on.  I NEED some wine to get through those 2 shows…LOL!
  8. Keeping me organized.  I write stuff down in my planner…yea that’s it.  I write it down then forget to actually go back to see what needs to be done.  SMH

What would your list look like if you had some to handle all that ish that you don’t have time for or just don’t want to do?
