Beautiful Smoothie Bowls

June 19, 2017 by Alisha 1 Comment

Back in December, before I started the vegan challenge, I did a 21-day smoothie bowl challenge.  It was the BEST way for me to transition into a vegan lifestyle.  Not only are smoothie bowls delicious, but they can literally provide all of the nutrients you need in a day!

Smoothie bowls are literally what they sound like but even better.  You combine your favorite fruits and veggies, whip them up and serve them in a bowl.  Smoothie bowl are HUGE on Instagram and I love checking out how creative people are when they make them.  My smoothie bowls typically look like something a 3-year-old would make, but still taste amazing!

Last month I had the chance to review the book Beautiful Smoothie Bowls by Carissa Bonham.  She is the writer behind the popular blog, Creative Green Living, pulls together eighty delectable recipes for smoothies so good that your kids, friends, and veggie-hating spouse will be begging for more.  There are also vegan, dairy-free, paleo and gluten-free recipes in the book as well. Zoom Zoom in the 2017 Mazda CX-9!

May 26, 2017 by Alisha 2 Comments

Last month during I had the pleasure of reviewing the 2017 Mazda CX-9 thanks to Drive Shop!  I’ve had so many amazing opportunities to test different vehicles thanks to them and this was one of my favorites!

I tested a very well-equipped Signature AWD model. It had Nappa leather upholstery, navigation, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, Bose audio, power front seats, power tailgate, Bluetooth audio and phone compatibility, blind-spot alert, backup camera and much more.

When I first got the car I assumed the 3rd row would be just enough room for infants.  You guys know what I mean!  Most SUVs with a 3rd row have just enough leg room so that if you’re over the age of 1 you’ll be sitting with your knees in your chest.  The leg room in the 3rd row was awesome and still provided enough trunk space for all the goodies we got while shopping.

How to Celebrate National Picnic Day with Flair

April 22, 2017 by Alisha Leave a Comment

National Picnic Day falls on the 23rd day of April each year.  Who knew there was day for this, but I’m not one to turn down an opportunity to hang with my girls and enjoy some grown up drinks and appetizers!  Picnic comes from the French word piquenique which means a meal eaten outdoors.  I’m typically anti-nature but the weather has been amazing so I couldn’t pass that up!

This year I had the pleasure of enjoying an afternoon picnic with 4 other amazing women: Malia of Lia Went Where, ,  Melissa of Fab Glance, Kay of I Am Kay Elle and Tomiko of Passports & Grubs.

No picnic would be complete without a nice spread!  You can either go all out or you can keep it simple.  If you’re going to get together with a group you can have everyone bring a dish to keep it easier.  We had a nice mix of meats, cheeses, crackers, dessert, dips, fruit, cocktails and dessert!  Basically all of the major food groups!  LOL   [Read more…]

SoCozy Hush Line for Sensitive Scalps

March 8, 2017 by Alisha Leave a Comment

Everyone always gushes over my youngest daughter’s hair.  “Oh it’s so long” and “It’s so thick and luscious!”  While I LOVE her thick &  curly hair, dealing with it on a daily basis makes me want to shave my head.  Wait…I pretty much have shaved my hair off…LOL!  I’m excited to share some amazing products from SoCozy’s Hush line that help make wash day a bit easier.

Every since Morgan started to develop vitiligo, I’ve noticed that her skin is a lot more sensitive.  And as you know, your scalp is just an extension of the rest of your skin.  I have to make sure and use products that won’t irritate her scalp or cause flakes.  All SoCozy hair products are non-toxic and made without parabens, sulfates, phthalates, synthetic color, propylene glycol, gluten, wheat or nuts.

Morgan and I hit up Target and found all 4 of the items we needed from the Hush Collection.  The tricky part is that we had to look in the baby aisle instead of with the other shampoos and conditioners.  We picked up the Sensitive 2in1 Soothing Shampoo+Conditioner, Sensitive Scalp Serum Balancing Treatment, Sensitive Detangler Ultra-Gentle Leave-In and Sensitive Styling Foam – Natural Hold.  The shampoo has this neat brush attachment that helps to gently massage the scalp and life up dirt and debris.  Morgan’s hair is waist length so I had to spray a good amount to cover all those curls.  It helped make detangling pretty easy but the scent wasn’t my favorite.  I added in our favorite moisturizer and then sectioned each part and twisted the hair with the styling foam.  The next day I untwisted her hair and it was so pretty and shiny!
