Christmas Mulled Red Wine Recipe

December 18, 2013 by Alisha 10 Comments

Every year I say I’m going to start a new holiday tradition.  And every year I fail miserably trying to come up with one!  So my new holiday tradition is to find a way to incorporate fun wine recipes during the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day!  For one, both of my girls start their Winter break next week so I have to figure out ways to find my happy place.  And nothing makes momma happier than a nice glass of wine to help me “winedown” after a day of breaking up fights, watching Caillou, playing with Barbies and trying to bust a move dancing to Just Dance on the xbox.

So here is the first recipe that will help me enjoy Christmas even more this season!  And the great part is that you don’t need some fancy schmancy bottle of wine.

December 9, 2013 by Alisha 49 Comments

ppy Monday!  A few weeks ago I came across some really cute nail art while searching for Christmas ideas.  I found a ton of designs that I would need a Master’s Degree in Fine Art to try to do!  I stumbled across one that was called Christmas Sweat Nail Art.  I thought to myself, now THIS is something that I could actually do.  Well it didn’t come out quite as planned hence the name Ugly Christmas Sweater Nail Art!  LOL  So here is the end result.

Mophie Juice Pack Air for iPhone 5 Giveaway #TeamiPhone

December 6, 2013 by Alisha 18 Comments

Back in October when I attended the Blogalicious conference, by Mophie was a lifesaver!  While I love my iPhone, the battery life sucks!  And while at the conference all we did was tweet, take pics, check email…basically use a lot of batter life in a short period of time.  It was so funny to see so many of us running around looking for outlets to charge up all of our gadgets.

Well today Goodtronix is giving one of my readers the chance to make sure you never have to worry about finding a place to charge up your phone while you’re out and about.  The Mophie Juice Pack Air for iPhone 5 is the ideal case for the everyday 9-5er and for those whose day doesn’t always end when they leave the office. Lighter and thinner than previous generations, but packed with more power to make sure your phone can keep up with your busy lifestyle.

Do you know your status?

December 2, 2013 by Alisha 9 Comments

Sunday, December 1st marked the 25th anniversary of World AIDS day.  HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, has become one of the world’s most serious health and development challenges:

  • 33.4 million are currently living with HIV/AIDS.
  • More than 25 million people have died of AIDS worldwide since the first cases were reported in 1981.
  • In 2008, 2 million people died due to HIV/AIDS, and another 2.7 million were newly infected.
  • While cases have been reported in all regions of the world, almost all those living with HIV (97%) reside in low- and middle-income countries, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa.
  • According to the World Health Organization (WHO), most people living with HIV or at risk for HIV do not have access to prevention, care, and treatment, and there is still no cure.
  • The HIV epidemic not only affects the health of individuals, it impacts households, communities, and the development and economic growth of nations. Many of the countries hardest hit by HIV also suffer from other infectious diseases, food insecurity, and other serious problems.
  • Despite these challenges, there have been successes and promising signs. New global efforts have been mounted to address the epidemic, particularly in the last decade. Prevention has helped to reduce HIV prevalence rates in a small but growing number of countries and new HIV infections are believed to be on the decline. In addition, the number of people with HIV receiving treatment in resource poor countries has increased 10-fold since 2002, reaching an estimated 4 million by 2008.

Overview compiled with information from WHO , USAID and Kaiser Family Foundation .
