Purple Toad Winery
Spring time will be here before we know it and one of my favorite things to do is go on road trips and visit wineries that are along the way. It’s a great way to check out new wines and I’m not one to turn down a chance to support small businesses either. You know just doing my part to help the economy…LOL. Here’s a trip a took a few years back that I’m hoping to visit again this year.
I had the pleasure of visiting the Purple Toad Winery in Paducah, Kentucky. Any time we take a road trip, one of the first things I do is to check and see which wineries we will pass on the way there or back home. Several came up, but the Name “Purple Toad” just sounded like it would be a cool place to visit and the reviews on Yelp were pretty good.
Purple Toad Winery is located on the edge of Paducah, Kentucky. The name “Purple Toad Winery” originated from the color of your toes when grapes were pressed the old-fashioned way. They combine modern wine making techniques with old world knowledge to produce award-winning wines. The winery is quaint and just off the beaten path. Once we arrived we were greeted by Shadow, a black labrador, who quickly made his way onto the sun porch since it was so darn hot and humid! Inside the shop there were several gifts and wine related items available for purchase. Ian, our server, was so nice and handed me a listing of all of their wines. Exciting News for Wine Lovers!
Finally after all the blood, sweat and tears Wine’ing Momma Tees are available for purchase! *throws confetti* I’ve been talking about having my own line of funny wine inspired shirts for years but could never quite figure out how I wanted to go about it. There were so many factors that stopped me along the way like fear, failing and wondering if anyone would even give a damn about wanting to actually buy this type of shirt.
Well I finally put all of that crap behind me and just decided to go for it. If there’s one thing I’ve learned its that if you don’t put it out there then how in the world is anyone going to be able to support you! I’ve been fortunate enough to be surrounded by a group of very encouraging people that tell me to “get off my ass and get my shit” together. I can so hear Dani and Michelle saying that right now. And Rose for always letting me vent to her when I’m having issues trying to embed stuff or get the design right. Christmas Mulled Red Wine Recipe
Every year I say I’m going to start a new holiday tradition. And every year I fail miserably trying to come up with one! So my new holiday tradition is to find a way to incorporate fun wine recipes during the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day! For one, both of my girls start their Winter break next week so I have to figure out ways to find my happy place. And nothing makes momma happier than a nice glass of wine to help me “winedown” after a day of breaking up fights, watching Caillou, playing with Barbies and trying to bust a move dancing to Just Dance on the xbox.
So here is the first recipe that will help me enjoy Christmas even more this season! And the great part is that you don’t need some fancy schmancy bottle of wine.
