Naptember Instagram Photo Challenge

Greetings everyone! Last month 3 ladies hosted an Instagram photo challenge. The title for the month was “Naptember”. It was a complete blast. Below is a list of the pictures that we had to recreate for each day of September.

I had so much fun trying to think “outside the box” to come up with different ways of taking pictures of my hair. I think my funniest one was the picture I took for day 3. The topic was corner and I put my hair in the corner in “timeout” for misbehaving. LOL I also had a chance to connect with so many other naturals and learn about their journey and also got some great ideas for hairstyles. The winner for Naptember was @mtamorphis. She has an awesome head of hair and her pictures were fantastic. Click HERE to get the full details on the story. I was also very honored to have received an honorable mention. Finger Coils styled with Coco Curls Cream

Today’s hair of the day is also a review on a great new product that I had the pleasure of trying. I was gifted this product for being a runner-up in a giveaway that All Things Curly had a few weeks ago.

This great product that I want to talk about is Coco Curls styling aid cream. OMG this stuff is so awesome. It has a nice creamy consistency and the smell is out of this world. It’s like a sweet combination of vanilla, honey and creme brulee all rolled up together!

I was starting to get tired of doing the same ol’ wash-n-go or twist out, so I decided to revisit a style that I did a lot when I first BC’d (big chopped). I washed and conditioned my hair then applied my Giovanni direct leave-in condition, massaged my scalp with my JBCO (Jamaican Black Castor Oil) then applied a small amount of natty moist all over my hair.

Next I took small sections of my hair to work with and applied the Coco Curls styling aid cream and finger coiled my hair. I made sure that each section was damp before I applied the cream. This makes it easy to help coil the hair.

Faux Hawk – Natural Hair

Hey curlfriends! Welcome to my first “Hair of the Day” post! If you don’t already follow me on INSTAGRAM then you probably have been missing my HOTD pictures. I love how the natural hair community is flooded with so many curlies that share their wealth of information regarding taking care of and styling natural hair. I’ve met so many great people and have had the opportunity to help others along the way. I appreciate all of my followers and thank you all for being so supportive during this new and exciting chapter of my life. Today’s style is my version of an up-do. Since my hair is still in the TWA (teeny weeny afro) stage, I’m a bit limited on some styles. I flat twisted the sides and back going up toward the crown. I 2-strand twisted the top then left them in for a few day. I then untwisted the top and viola! Love how this turned out and it’s a great protective style since I’m not manipulating my hair every day.

Since I’m not comfortable trying to be a vlogger on YouTube, I plan to work on editorial pics on how to do the hairstyles. Be sure to stay tuned for more HOTD posts!

My first Outfit of the Day (OOTD)

I’ve been wanting to do an outfit of the day since joining the BLM (Bloggers Like Me) Group. There are so many fashion forward blogs out there and I guess I just felt overwhelmed by everyone’s awesome style. Today I was feeling especially cute and thought “Heck I need to show the world!”. HAHA Seriously, I’ve been trying to step out of my boring “mom” look and try outfits that I wouldn’t normally put together. Now having a 3 year old I still have to be sensible about what I put on in case I have to make a made dash after her. With the help of my new photographer, my oldest daughter, I’ve put together a nice compilation of today’s OOTD!
