Do you wanna build a snowman?

December 1, 2014 by Alisha 14 Comments

Happy first day of December!  I decided that since it’s officially “let’s get ready for Christmas” month I would try my hand at Winter and Holiday nail art.  Now as you all know I am by NO means an artist or professional when it comes to my nail art.  Unfortunately Instagram and Pinterest give me delusions of grandeur and I have these preconceived visions in my mind that my nail art will look exactly like the inspiration pictures.  Every now and then I get a win.  And when that happens I look just like this:

Now last week my poor little turkey nail art looked more like a “turdkey” to me than anything.  I know most of you were being kind with your comments, but trust me that brown blob looked crazy.  LOL  Now on the other hand when my nail art is more of a “fail” that excitement and celebration tends to be more like this:

MANICure Monday | Are You Ready for Some Football?!?!

August 25, 2014 by Alisha 12 Comments

Wait…did I just seriously ask “Are you ready for some football?”  Clearly I’m delusional and what I meant to say “Are you ready for some football nailart”  Phew that’s much better!

This time of year I become a football widow.  I’ve tried over the years to learn more about the sport and get into all the drama, suspense and thrill of the game.  But alas, my only love for football will be with me painting a football on my nail!  LOL

MANICure Monday | The Fault in our Stars Nashville Fan Event #TFIOSTN

May 13, 2014 by Alisha 6 Comments

Last week I had the pleasure of attending “The Fault in our Stars” Nashville Fan event.  My good blogging friend Liz of Yes/No Films was able to get us Media passes so we were up close and personal with the stars and author.  To get ready for the event I decided that it would be perfect for me to create nail art based on the movie.  One of the famous lines from the story is the dialogue between the two main characters “Okay?”  “Okay.”

I didn’t have any blue that matched the color of the book so I had to use what I had.  I used black and white nail art pens from Sally Hansen, Maybelline’s Color Show Color Me Blue and Rush 60-second high speed polish in Blue.

MANICure Monday | #AutismSPeaks Autism Awareness Nail Art

April 7, 2014 by Alisha 8 Comments

April is national autism Awareness month. Autism is a broad term for a spectrum of disorders referred to as Pervasive Developmental Disorders (PDD) or Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). They are a group of neurobiological disorders that affect an individual’s ability to interact, communicate, relate, play, imagine, and learn.

The term SPECTRUM is an important part of understanding autism because of the wide range of behaviors and types of problems. There can be significant variations from one individual to another. There is a range of skills and challenges in individuals on the autism spectrum. Children with ASD may have a striking lack of interest, inability to interact with other people or have limited ability to communicate. On the other end of the spectrum are individuals with Asperger’s Syndrome and they may have difficulty with social interactions and exhibit a restricted range of interests and/or repetitive behaviors.

The puzzle piece was used because autism is a very complex and a puzzle to try to fully understand. Many times there are also a lot of people working together with those with ASD. These could range from parents, teacher, behavior therapist, psychologists, dietitians and more! And each of these people together help to try and put the “puzzle” pieces together.
