MANICure Monday | The Fault in our Stars Nashville Fan Event #TFIOSTN

May 13, 2014 by Alisha 6 Comments

Last week I had the pleasure of attending “The Fault in our Stars” Nashville Fan event.  My good blogging friend Liz of Yes/No Films was able to get us Media passes so we were up close and personal with the stars and author.  To get ready for the event I decided that it would be perfect for me to create nail art based on the movie.  One of the famous lines from the story is the dialogue between the two main characters “Okay?”  “Okay.”

I didn’t have any blue that matched the color of the book so I had to use what I had.  I used black and white nail art pens from Sally Hansen, Maybelline’s Color Show Color Me Blue and Rush 60-second high speed polish in Blue.

Oh how I miss you Butterducks Winery

May 7, 2014 by Alisha 14 Comments

First off let me preface this post by saying that I am not a “wino” but I visit wineries and sample varieties of wine for my readers.  LOL

Last year during Spring Break I had the pleasure of visiting Butterducks Winery located just outside of Savannah, Georgia in Effingham County.  One of my good friends, Vanessa, that I grew up with located the winery since she knew I’d be in town and how much I LOVE wine!

Butterducks Winery’s setting is absolutely peaceful and beautiful.  Outside are areas where you can sit , sip on your wine and enjoy the scenery.  Inside we were greeted by a very nice lady who made us feel right at home.  She was so much fun and damn near made me want to buy every wine they sold! Beans Creek Winery

April 30, 2014 by Alisha 20 Comments

If you’ve taken the time to read “All About Me” then you know that one of my favorite sayings is “Everyone needs to believe in something.  I believe I’ll have another glass of wine!”  I mean seriously wine makes everything better.  Heck even food with wine in it taste better!  I’m just sayin’…

Today’s post is a review of one of my favorite local wineries located in Manchester, TN which is about 60 miles outside of Nashville.  Beans Creek Winery began when Tom made his first wine in 1976 in a pickle crock in his mom’s kitchen along with his childhood friends, Joe and Dan Lasater.  He spent the next 30 years perfecting his wine style using grapes and fruit grown right here in Tennessee. With the help and support of other local wine growing families, Tom’s dream became a reality.  beans Creek Winery offers a wide selection of Tennessee wines, which I had the pleasure of sampling…yum!
Once you arrive inside the winery you are greeted by a friendly staff.  The inside of the winery shop was quaint and made you feel right at home.  Before partaking in sampling the spirits, I perused the store and found some very cute items.  Of course being a winery they had wine glasses.  But in addition to that they had cute aprons, napkins, marinades, jellies, ornaments and jewelry.

Look at all these yummy goodies! And the wine cozies are adorable!

AriLabs Ari Sulfur Soap Review #ariSulferTheDiffIsClear

April 25, 2014 by Alisha 16 Comments

Every since I turned 40 (last year) my skin has decided to go crazy and I have been dealing with acne like a hormonal teenager.  “Ain’t nobody got time for that!”  So when I was asked to review AriLabs Ari Sulfur Soap I literally jumped at the chance!  The Ari Sulfur facial treatment bar is the genius idea of renowned dermatologist Dr Patricia Yap and her sister, chemist Felice Campbell.  I even had a chance to speak with Mrs. Campbell on the phone and was even more impressed with their product after learning about how she and her sister developed it together.

There are not many products that are specific to the needs of ethnic skin.  Their products are developed and formulated in collaboration with a leading Dermatologist, using the most effective ingredients to target many skin conditions including acne, razor bumps, liver spots, age spots and hyperpigmentation (dark spots).  Dark spots have been a major problem with my skin in addition to the acne breakouts.
