I was graciously reminded while leaving a comment on a YT video that I have my own channel.  Duh!  Now I wouldn’t call it a channel considering it is a few videos of my toddler doing her thing.  I personally don’t like my voice, flare my nostrils too dang much and I have a lazy right eye.  Those 3 right there will have me being left with all kinds of disrespectful comments and then my alter ego, Shaqwan, will have to come out in full gear.  And we DO NOT want that to happen… LOL.

There are so many tips and ideas I would love to share, but I just don’t have the best equipment for making a quality video. How many of you have videos and finally overcame your fears and just went for it? What made you decided to do a video?  Please feel free to share!

When you get a chance, head on over and check out my videos and feel free to comment!

Hair Rules + Instagram + Nail

June 28, 2012 by Alisha Leave a Comment

So much has gone on in the last few months.  Back in May my mom, daughter and I all went to the National Natural Hair Meet Up Day.  It was so much fun and can you believe all of us ended up winning door prizes!  In addition to the awesome swag bags that we received, my oldest daughter I won 3 full size items of Hair Rules products.  Well I finally got around to actually using some of the goodies that we got.  Let me just say that I LOVE the results that I got using Hair Rules Kinky Curling Cream.  Not only were my curls poppin’, but my hair actually had a nice shine as well.  Every kinky curl out there deals with trying to add some shine or sheen to their curls.  In addition to my Giovanni Direct Leave-in and All Things O’Natural’s natty moist, I will be adding this product to my holy grail.

#Pow…look at that shine!

Over this last month I’ve come to appreciate and love Instagram even more.  I’ve had the app on my phone forever and would occasionally post a pic of the girls or some random sunset.  Well now I’ve gotten quite the following and along the way have found other naturals out there that love talking about hair just as much as me.  It’s amazing how something as simple as hair can unite so many beautiful people.  I’m learning new styles and tips to try with my hair, getting exercise and nutrition tips and drooling over all the fabulous “Outfits of the Day”!  Also I’ve picked up quite the nail polish collection over the last month and have learned so many cool things you can do with a small brush and toothpick.  Who knew nail polish could be so much fun!  I’ll save you all from all my epic nail fails, but rest assure I’ll be coming back to show some of my awesomeness once I learn how to do them better…LOL
Just found out today that I’ll be receiving Influenster’s Beauty VoxBox soon so I will be back to show all the goodies I get and do a review on them.
Remember to enjoy life and laugh along the way because life is too short to sweat the small stuff!

Homemade Flaxseed Gel

March 13, 2012 by Alisha Leave a Comment

Sometimes you just need to leave well enough alone… LOL

So I decided to try and make my own flax seed gel.  #FAIL
The recipe I used was:
1/2c of flax seeds
2 cups of distilled water
*a few drops of essential oil (optional)

What the?!?!

Once you boil your mixture, you will start to see the water congeal.  After boiling for about 5 minutes, remove the mixture and use a strainer or thin pantyhose.  The seeds are really tiny so a colander won’t work and don’t be like me and use tights.  (Let’s just say I did a lot of squeezing for a tiny bit of gel!)Then add a few drops of your favorite essential oil, mix and you are done!   It’s best to refrigerate the mixture and it’s good for about a week.

Now let’s rewind back to why I feel this turned out to be a fail for me.  ——–>  I think my first mistake was using too many seeds.  After checking out other recipes a lot of people used 2 tbs-1/4 cup.  My second mistake was using a pair of old tights.  They don’t make it easy to try to squeeze the gel out.  And my third and final mistake was thinking I was some sort of kitchen scientist.  I’m going to leave all of these homemade concoctions to the “professionals” and go back to studying up on my natural hair topics.

All that work and this is it?!?!

Do you have anything that you tried to make and it turned out to be more of a headache?  Feel free to share the love!  LOL

P.S.  I can’t believe I forgot to share of pic of how the gel worked on my hair!  Actually worked great just a lot of work trying to get that gel.  😀

I have a new love in my life!

February 22, 2012 by Alisha Leave a Comment

I am in LOVE! Ok… you know how people say something works well and you watch the infomercials and you think, “That stuff is just for show and won’t work like that in real life!” Well bareMinerals has proved me wrong. My skin is glowing and looks flawless. I picked up the starter kit at Ulta and couldn’t be more pleased with my results. My hubby even said my skinned looked nice and I looked like a chocolate kiss…LOL

It’s so much fun experimenting with makeup but I really wish I could get eye makeup to look like it does when I hit the MAC counter. I’ve watched countless videos on YouTube and I always strike out. Can somebody please come and help a sista out?!?! haha

What is your favorite kind of makeup? What tips do you have to get that runway look for your eye makeup? Please feel free to share!
