Review: Bee Mine Deja’s Hair Milk

September 21, 2012 by Alisha 19 Comments

Hey Curlfriends!  It’s amazing all of the different types of products out there to deal with hair.  It’s enough to send a product junkie into a conniption!  For anyone that is newly natural, one of the biggest obstacles that you will face is which products will work best for YOUR hair type.  I’m not one to try and base everything on a chart, but a lot of times not all hair products are created equally.  The picture below is a good example of the different types of hair:

Hair Type Chart courtesy of

http://sportyafros.com/hair/the-hair-texture-chart/

A few months ago I had the pleasure of working with Tawanna of All Things Curly.  She was such a pleasure to work with and helped me find a great product to style my youngest daughter’s hair.  Morgan has several textures throughout her hair and she ranges from a 2b-3a.  Tawanna suggested that we try Bee Mine Deja’s Hair Milk.  The texture is nice and light (like a body lotion) and has a very pleasant scent.

I washed Morgan’s hair then applied Giovanni Direct Leave-In Conditioner throughout her hair.  Once I detangled her hair I parted it into 4 sections then applied about a quarter size of the hair milk in each section.  I then took my Denman brush and brushed to work it through.  As I was doing her hair, I also rewet lightly with my spray bottle since then made it easier to apply the product and brush her hair.  The results were great and her hair was nice and shiny but not greasy.  I’ve tried this product in my hair and it was definitely a no-go for me.  I would say that this works better for the 2-3s.  My hair (4a-4c) requires more moisture and a heavier creamy type product.  Check out the awesome results she got.

So how do you style your little diva’s hair?  I’m so tired of doing 1-2 ponytails or just slapping a head band on her head.  Feel free to share your favorite and easy styles.

I wonder if this will work on my 1 yo hair? I can tell her curl pattern is shaping up to be 4a.

On 4a I would probably use it more as a refresher than just the only styler. But you never know. And the smell is awesome and its not greasy which is def a plus.

How cute, her curls look so lovely!! I have straight hair and unfortunately it doesn't want to hold a curl for more than an hour.

I love playing in her hair when she sits still long enough. I'm hoping she continues to love them as she grow up. 😀

Thanks Shika! This is by far the best moisturizer I've found for her hair. Now of course my oldest daughter's hair needs something a bit heavier. But a little for a long way.

I need something for my daughter's hair. I feel like milks don't moisturize enough and puddings weigh her hair down. Maybe I need to try a lotion or oil??

Hey Tia! I really did like this hair milk. Also another one I like for me is Coco Curls styling aid. A little goes a long way and I usually only have to re-apply maybe once before I wash again.
