Motivation Monday | 6 week challenge to get back on track!

February 11, 2014 by Alisha 6 Comments

Happy Monday!  So it’s almost the middle of February and some of us may already be throwing in the towel when it comes to staying on track with our health and fitness resolutions.  Well to help get a lot of us out of that slump, I’ve teamed up with “Busy Mom’s Bootcamp” for an awesome 6 week challenge to get back on track!  Being a mom sometimes means you have to be invincible.  You have to take care of home, kids, work…. you get the picture!  And at times we put our needs on the back burner and forget that if mom is down, then everything goes kaput!

Have you ever felt like the mom in this picture?

Stonehaus Winery – Red Wine

What's your favorite red wine alisha lampley coily locks

Last Fall I did a post discussing the 5 types of wine.  Many of you reached out and requested that I go more in-depth and share my semi-professional aka wino expertise with you all.  One of the beautiful things about living in Middle Tennessee is that this area is surrounded by gorgeous vineyards.  Yep you read that right!  Vineyards right here in The South.  There is no written law that states only California can grow grapes.  LOL  Of the five main types of grapes grown in the United States, American and French-American hybrid varieties are the best adapted to Tennessee growing conditions.  One of my favorite types of grapes for wine is Muscadine.  Which leads me to today’s discussion of red wine.

Red wines are not really better than white wines, but a well made red wine has more flavor components and are typically more complex that white wines.  The skins of red wine grapes give it their color, tannin and assorted fruit flavors.  Red grape skins are kept in the fermenting vat for a longer period of time.

How many charms can you fit in your Origami Owl Locket?

How many charms can you fit in your Origami Owl Locket 1

One of the first questions I get asked by my customers is “How many charms can you fit in your Origami Owl Locket?”  Origami Owl has 4 lockets.  We carry a mini, medium, large and our newest heart locket.  As a general rule of thumb, I recommend the following:

Mini Locket: 1-2 Charms

Medium Locket: 4-7 Charms

Large Locket: 7-12 Charms

Heart Locket: 4-7 Charms

With that being said, it really depends on the charms. Some of the charms are small (like the birthstones and pearl) and some charms are large (like the children birthstones and some of travel charms).

You can rent a timeshare for your next vacation!

January 27, 2014 by Alisha 6 Comments

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

I was honored to receive a membership to RedWeek for a chance to review a site that specializes in timeshare rentals, sales/buying and exchanges.  RedWeek helped me realize just how easy and affordable planning your next getaway can be.  Each year my family and I spend 1-2 weeks in Florida for Spring Break, so of course the first location I searched was Orlando, FL!

You may be wondering how RedWeek got their name.  In the timeshare industry, a “red week” is the absolute best time to own a timeshare.  In using this term as the name of the company, it simply means “The Best.”

“The best” part of this post is that RedWeek is offering one lucky reader a FREE 2-year membership to their site.

RedWeek’s site is easy to navigate and gives you the option to check out the site and sign up for free as a guest before you become a member.  When you click on “Find a Timeshare” on the home page, top left in the green bar, that will take you to a page that also lists “features” on the right side, including links to “Kid Friendly,” “Pet Friendly,” as well as specialty destinations such as “Golf,” “Beaches,” etc.  You also have the option to search for buying, selling, exchanging or timeshare rentals.   Notice that in the center of the home page is “Top Timeshare Rental Destinations” showing you at a glance how inexpensive timeshare rentals can be. I searched for properties in the Orlando, FL area and it pulled up 6 additional cities.  The nice thing about Orlando is that everything is centrally located so there’s really not a bad spot to pick with all of the attractions in the area.

I found a ton of great locations but one really caught my attention!  Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas (Jambo House) which is a 1bd/2ba was absolutely amazing looking and rents for $143 a night.  It’s like staying in your own private zoo! Check out these pictures!
