Santa and Rudolph Nail Art

December 3, 2012 by Alisha 17 Comments

Happy Monday everyone!  I’m so excited to participate in this week’s “Manicure Monday”!  Typically when I try to recreate EVERYTHING nail art that I’ve seen on Pinterest or YouTube, they end up as an Epic Fail.  I was so excited when I came across a Santa and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer design.  They seemed easy enough to recreate and the directions were simple and damn near “idiot proof”.  If there isn’t one already, there needs to be a “Nail Art for Dummies book“.

Join in the fun by linking up with Mimi from Lipgloss and Binky and Lynn from LALynnsShoppe for their Manicure Monday!

I love this red from Revlon. The color is “chili” and it is a true red and dries fast!

I used the black, white and silver in today’s Mani. These pens are great for creating designs.

I also used “You don’t know Jacques” by OPI to make Rudolph and a dotting tool to create the finer details.  It only took me a few minutes and I practiced on a piece of paper before I finished the design on my nails.  I’m also hoping to make a Christmas Tree and ornaments before the holiday season is over.  Wish me luck!  What are some of your favorite designs that are simple that you enjoy doing?  Please share below!

Feature Friday: Presenting Britton!

November 30, 2012 by Alisha 4 Comments

Hey Curlies!!!  Thank goodness it’s Friday!!!  And besides it being one day closer to the weekend, it’s also FEATURE FRIDAY!  I belong to an incredible blog group called Blogger Like Me!  I’ve had the opportunity to meet so many phenomenal women.  Today’s guest post is from Britton.  You can read more from this great lady over at My Big Beautiful Life.

I will be the first to admit. The whole “natural hair” thing never really appealed to me (or so I thought). For many reasons:

  • I didn’t want a teeny, weeny, afro (TWA).
  • I didn’t want kinky hair that I could barely comb.
  • I didn’t want a TWA.
  • It just seemed like too much work with all the co-washing, sealing, moisturizing, finding the right products, etc. etc.
  • I loved my creamy crack (relaxer).
  • …and did I mention I didn’t want a TWA?
What changed my mind, you ask?

These micro braids…last summer. Or Should I say…the aftermath. [Read more…]

Winning Wednesday Giveaway (CLOSED)

November 14, 2012 by Alisha 40 Comments

Who doesn’t like a good giveaway?!?!  Well I want to welcome you all again to my new home and what better way to kick this off.  My mom just got back from a Mediterranean Cruise (yes I’m still hatin’) and she brought me back so many goodies.  Over the last few years I’ve become quite the collector of scarves.  They are so versatile and can dress up or dress down an outfit and they can also cover up a bad hair day while making you look chic!

I love scarves…can you tell?

Well what good is it to just show off my scarves and not share the love?  I will be giving away 2 scarves…yeah!  They are 100% viscosa and measure approximately 24×66 inches.  They are lightweight and perfect to wear year round. [Read more…]
