Ask Away Friday with The Mad Mommy!

February 27, 2015 by Alisha 36 Comments

This week I’m participating in my first Ask Away Friday link up!  What is #AskAwayFriday? Well…
AAF Button
#AskAwayFriday was created by the amazing Penny from Real Housewife of Caroline County and Amber from Bold Fit Mom, as a way to connect with other bloggers with a great Q & A session of 10 questions and 10 answers, between two bloggers! This is a wonderful opportunity to get to know others while allowing others to get to know you and of course there is also the added bonus of making great friends along the way which is one of the best parts of this online world!

AskAwayFridayHosts

Tamara from Tamara Like Camera, Tiffany from Mrs. Tee Love Life Laughter, Christy from Uplifting Families, Stacey from This Momma’s Ramblings and Echo from The Mad Mommy.

I am so excited that Echo of The Mad Mommy wanted to do this with me!  I’m answering 10 questions that she sent over so be sure to swing on by her “place” and tell her I said hey!

Ask-Away-Friday-with-Coily-Locks

1. How did you come up with the name of your blog? I kept doing a play on words and knew that I wanted to incorporate the word coily (my hair texture) in there some kind of way and then I thought of Goldilocks and Coilylocks was born!
2. How long have you been blogging?  I started my blog almost 8 years ago with one pitiful post and thought this is the dumbest thing and who the heck is gonna read it!  Then 3 years ago when I went natural I wanted to find an outlet for that and share the hair journey of my then almost 10-year-old daughter and myself.
3. Please, introduce us to Sybil!  Sybil is my bi-polar, multiple personalities (textures) hair!  It was until I stopped relaxing my hair did I realize I had 3 different textures.  And do you all remember Sally Fields in the movie Sybil?  Well that’s my hair! LOL

4. What is your go-to natural hair taming trick?  Moisture, moisture, moisture!  Did I mention moisture?  One of the big things curly girls deal with is dryness and this Winter has not been nice to us at all.  I make sure to always drink plenty of water and I use the LOC method to help tame Sybil.  The LOC Method is the order in which you use your products on your hair. It states that you use a leave in conditioner, an oil and moisturizing cream styling product.
5. When did you get into nail art?  I started REALLY getting into it about 2 years ago.  I use to always get acrylics with airbrush designs when I was in college…OMG do you all remember those?!?!  I’ve always had really weak nails and I wanted to take the time to strengthen my nails on my own.  After I did that I started to buy nail polish and then led to my current stash of more than 150 bottles!

6. Show us your 3 favorite manicures that you have done!
Owl Always Love Nail Art coily locks alisha lampley 2swirls and polka dots manicure alisha lampley coily locks 1 jamberry-coily-locks-alisha-lampley
7. What is your favorite thing to do with your girls?  Since they are 12 (going on 40) and 5 it’s totally different for each one.  With my oldest just spending time with us 2 is the best.  We’ll go to Starbucks or walk around the mall and she won’t have her phone stuck to her face.  And with my 5yo it’s gotta be making up dance moves or going outside to play (which it’s been WAY too cold to do lately).
8. What is one thing you want your girls to know as they grow?  That they are beautiful and smart and that I’m always here for them no matter what!
9. I know you love wine! What is your favorite wine and what glass do you drink it out of the most?
Oh wow that’s a hard one!  Currently I’m loving just about anything that is red and not too dry!  I started off being more of a sweet wine lover but my palette has matured a bit and I love Merlot which is delicious with steak!  Now as far as a glass, pretty much any one that is clean!  #dontjudgeme
10. Ten Favorites:
Movie:  It’s a tie between Friday and Office Space!  I LOVE comedies!
TV Show:  Currently House of Cards which starts back today!!!
Place you have traveled to:  Ocho Rios, Jamaica!
Article of clothing you own:  My Middle TN State University (MTSU) sweatshirt!  I have it for 16 years and it still looks good!
Color:  baby blue
Comfort Food:  my dad’s mac-n-cheese
Animal:  french bull-dog – I really really want one!
Blogging Perk:  getting paid to talk about products I love #winning
TV Couple ever: I love the Hecks on The Middle!
Room in your house:  the living room where I can binge watch all my DVR’d or Netflix shows 😀

Be sure to check out their Facebook page “AskAwayFriday” for a great place to meet up and send out a #BuddyRequest if you need a partner to swap with!

Your nail art collection looks amazing! I hate to admit that I can never do a proper manicure on myself, I end up with bloodied cuticles and polish that look like a 3-year-old did them. Haha.

I absolutely love your nail art! You’re so talented! I almost never paint my nails because I just don’t have the patience for it. I can’t imagine creating some of those amazing designs you do.

Thats fu my about her alter ego hair. Mine is permed and short right now because it tends to be really limp and lifeless. I like it this way much better.
