What’s Sybil been up to for the last month? Ok…so you know how I said I’m going to go the whole year without cutting my hair? Well I’m happy to report that’s it’s month two and she is still here. Heck she’s even a little baby fro now. *sniff sniff* They just grow up so darn fast!
Seriously, you all have NO idea how hard this has been for me. While I was at the Entertainment New Media Network conference last week in Anaheim, CA I saw this natural with a blonde brush cut. It took the hair growth Gods from above to keep me from calling my barber as soon as I got home. I’m not sure if you all saw my attempt to bleach my hair a few months ago, but let’s just say I won’t be trying to do that by myself again. Ever.
You may be asking yourself “Well how do we know you haven’t cut Sybil?” Here’s a pic to show you how she’s doing today! And for some reason Sybil has had quite the attitude lately. Talking back, not listening and just being defiant.
Now that I’m venturing down this road of growing my hair again I had to reread an article I did a year again called “So you big chopped, now what?” I had completely forgotten what worked for my hair. Sybil has not been happy with me lately and I knew I better get my hair life together or I’d be walking around looking like I had a brillo pad on my head!
One of the big things I’ve been slacking on is deep conditioning. When my hair was longer I used to get all fancy and jazz up my conditioners with aloe vera juice, oils (almond, jojoba, olive) and honey to make a deep conditioner. But when I had a brush cut I didn’t really feel I needed a deep conditioning. I even have a hair steamer…a hair steamer people! Which I actually just remembered as I was typing this post…but I digress!
At least this time around while growing out my hair I know what works and what doesn’t. Last Fall I attended a conference and I was gifted a starter kit for transitioning from relaxed to natural hair from Curls. I’ve even done a few reviews for their products and like them a lot.
As a former product junkie, I understand how frustrating it can be to always see the latest and great product only to buy it and be mad as heck when it ends up being a big waste of time, energy and money. So to help all my product junkies I’m having a giveaway. Woohoo!
CURLS has a great kit for all the curlies out there! It’s called to the CURLS “Fierce, Fabulous & Finally Free Transitioning Kit. One lucky winner will receive the following 4 items:
- Creamy Curl Cleanser – A sulfate free cream cleanser that gently removes dirt and debris, while nourishing needed tresses. 4 oz.
- Coconut Curlada Conditioner – Soften, detangle, moisturize and hydrate your curls in a snap. 4 oz.
- Defining Moments Curl Release Serum – Create shiny, luxurious, touchable curls with this magic curl potion. 4 oz.
- Passion Fruit Curl Control Paste – Smooth out and slick down unruly edges, tame frizzy, out of control curls, and add amazing sheen all in one step! 4 oz
Good luck! Sybil’s been pretty busy and has a lot going on and will be making a new debut soon! I can’t wait to share it with you all so be sure to stay tuned!

It works wonders. I am so paranoid about ensuring my hair has moisture, I was given the QP as a gift and I use/cherish it like gold.Would recommend it to anyone.

Sybil is beautiful! She looks very well behaved! Hang in there with your no-cut challenge. You can do it. And try to enjoy each stage you go thru. I know it can be challenging, but I also know you can do it!! ☺
I def enjoyed this stage last time because it meant no retwisting my hair at night…lol. That’s the only thing I’m not looking forward to again.
