As parents, there are a lot of sacrifices we make for our kids. I think the one that drives me the craziest is the school drop off lane.
It seems like such a simple thing.
- Pull into school parking lot
- Drop off kid at the curb or
- Park and walk child into school
- Pull off in a nice orderly fashion
- Go about your day
NONE of this ever happens. And guess what? For some reason I like this thing called sleep so I totally wake up my youngest late which means…no walking her to the bus stop. If I wanted to keep my sanity in tact, I’d just wake up about 15-20 minutes earlier and take a nice 2 block stroll to the bus stop. Instead I like to join the crazies and wonder how some of these people even function and make it through a day. A few days ago I came across this hilarious infographic from Nicole of Or Whatever You Do.
I’m thinking I need to print these off and also translate them into at least 3 other languages for all the parents at the school. -_-
For my daughter’s school you drop off on the right and pass/park on the left. I love those morning when someone on the left zips up to the front and just basically throws their kid out, as cars are about to pull off from the right. This face is usually reserved for those “special:
Our school also lot our crossing guard a few years ago so you can only imagine how that adds to all the fun. Once 8am hits, you’re supposed to park and walk your child into school so you can sign them in since you are technically tardy. One day last week a parent parked (in the drop off lane) at 7:50 and walked his child into school.
Since my child was in the car I refrained from calling him dumb…but I was sure thinking it! LOL
Pick up is a whole different beast and I just don’t do that. School is dismissed at 3 and there are people who arrive sometimes as early as 1:45. You my dear have NO life. HAHA!
Are you one of those people who was offended by the infographic above? If so please putting your child on the bus or let them hitch a ride with a neighbor. I’m just sayin’! If not, can you feel my pain? #soulcry
If your school has mastered the art of school drop off/pick up, please share below so that I can educate the masses and make everyone’s life easier!

Haha! You know I feel your pain. Great post, and thanks for sharing my infographic! Have you seen this? https://youtu.be/dEqx3tnfiQw Hilarious! She went viral with that video a few weeks ago, and was kind enough to take me (well – my infographic 😉 along for the ride. )
