Well hello to all my curlies! If you aren’t following me on Instagram, then you might have missed me chopping off Sybil even more. Ever since I had to cut off heat damage from last December I’ve been flip-flopping on whether or not I want to grow my hair back out. Well for now the answer is a big ol’ HECK NO! haha But my goal is to actually kick off with a challenge starting 01/01/14, stop cutting and get back on #teamgrowmyhair.
I’m always looking at different ways to grow as a blogger and businesswoman and was so excited when I had a chance to partner with Kj Naturals to make Sybil’s Buttah. While we were working on making a great hair and body butter, I was informed that since I have a latex allergy that it might be a good idea to avoid natural, unrefined shea butter. O_o Huh?!?! I had NEVER heard that before and decided to do a little research.
Shea butter is extremely well tolerated by most people. However, some people are allergic to substances which are normally considered harmless. For example, if you have a sensitivity to latex, you may react to Shea butter, which contains natural latex, although in very small quantities. A lot of oily fruits and nuts have natural latex derivatives, so if you have a latex sensitivity you’re likely to have issues with avocado, banana, chestnut, kiwi, raw potato, tomato, stone fruits (such as peach, plum, cherry) hazelnut, melons, celery, carrot, apple, pear, papaya, and almonds. Not to say avoid all of these things, but definitely pay attention to anything out of the norm the next time you use Shea butter or have some of these food items.
So when we put Sybil’s Buttah together I wanted to make sure it was something that was natural, good for skin & hair and wouldn’t break me out! Here’s what we came with for the awesome ingredients: mango butter, argan oil, coconut oil, Jamaican Black castor oil (JBCO), vitamin D and fragrance. The scent is a light citrusy, herbal scent that does not linger.
You may be wondering, what can I do with Sybil’s Buttah?
- Intense moisture treatments for dry/damaged hair
- “Pre-Poo” Protection (Apply to damp hair before shampooing to prevent stripping away natural oils)
- Stop split ends before they start (Apply to ends daily or as needed)
- Promote growth & retain hair’s length by sealing in moisture. Maintaining moisture balance is one of the keys to length retention and healthy hair.
- Apply to damp skin after a shower. Water-based lotions evaporate but a thin layer of whipped butter will seal moisture in ALL day.
- Keep toes & heels ready for those sexy shoes!
I would recommend this to curlies that are 3b-4c. My youngest daughter is 2b-3a and it’s just too heavy for her hair. But my oldest daughter’s hair loved it as did mine. And my skin stays ash-free all day! #winning HAHA
So how does Sybil like Sybil’s Buttah? She loves it but she did say she was tired of going through all these changes with me and wants me to either grow my hair or keep it short. Whatever…who asked for her opinion anyway! Here are a few pics of me after using Sybil’s Buttah and my new micro TWA!
Sybil’s Buttah is now available but in limited supply (10 jars). The hair and skin butter will retail for $15 plus shipping. If you would like to order an 8oz jar of Sybil’s Buttah please email me at info@wineingmomma.com and I will send you an invoice via PayPal. Also include your zip code so shipping can be added. Thanks and I look forward to sharing my love of Sybil’s Buttah!

Congrats on your new business venture. I have told myself I’m not buying ANYMORE products until I take this sew in out! I’ve been buying and buying, and not using ANYTHING because my hair is in protective styling.

Now why are you trying to be a PJ when your hair isn’t even out for you to mess with it…LOL! Can’t wait to see you when you rock a twist out!

I’m severely allergic to latex (Epipen allergic) and I’ve never had a reaction to shea butter or the foods listed. I thank God for that b/c I never heard that you could have a reaction. OMG! Girl! It would make since as to why I have itching allergies sometime. I thought it was just dust but never knew it could be the foods. I love bananas and apples. I eat them on a regular basis.
