Give Your Holidays a Kick with these Spodee Wine Recipes!

December 24, 2014 by Alisha 4 Comments

Spodee Wine Red Holiday

Spodoee Wine is advertised as a “Wine with a Kick”. But it’s actually more like a, “Kick in the Butt!” I made the mistake the first time and sipped a little too fast.  Let’s just say I slept like a baby that night…LOL

Nothing bring families together more than the holidays!  And we all could use a bit of holiday spirit(s) to help keep us sane during this time of year.  Am I right…or am I right?!?!  Most of us right now are experiencing cold temps and these cocktails will definitely keep you warm and fuzzy!  Heck they probably even make the life of the party or they may lead to very embarrassing pictures spread all over the interwebs so remember to drink responsibly.  I’ve gathered a few great Spodee Winter Warmers to help you all get into the holiday mood.

spodee-red-mulledcider (1)

Spodee Mulled Cider
1 part Spodee Red
3 parts apple cider
1 tsp. mulling spices
2 orange peels
2 lemon peels
2 cinnamon sticks
Combine all ingredients in a saucepan or crockpot, and set to low heat for an hour
before serving. Ladle into mugs and garnish with cinnamon sticks or an orange peel.

Spodee Hot Toddy
2 parts Spodee Red
4 parts water
1 part honey whiskey
1 tsp lemon juice
1 cinnamon stick
½ tsp mulling spices
Orange zest
Warm Spodee, water, whiskey, and lemon juice on stovetop. Add mulling spices and
let simmer for 3-5 minutes. Pour into mug, and garnish with orange zest and fresh
cranberries.

spodee-white-wassail3

Spodee Wassail
3 bottles Spodee White
4 cups pineapple juice
2 cups apple cider
1 cup orange juice
12oz apricot nectar
1 tsp cloves
3 cinnamon sticks
Oranges for garnish
(optional) 4 bottles ginger beer
To serve cold: Combine all ingredients and top with ginger beer. Serve over ice.
To serve hot: Combine juices and spices and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, add Spodee
wine, and simmer for 20 minutes. Strain and discard spices. Serve warm, and
garnish with orange wheels or cinnamon stick.

spodee-white-mulled1Spodee Mulled Wine
3 bottles Spodee White
1 tbsp black peppercorns
1 tbsp whole cloves
2 tbsp lemon juice
Rind from one lemon
A handful of sage and thyme
Toast spices for 2 minutes, then add Spodee, sage, thyme, lemon rind and juice.
Bring to a slow boil over medium heat, then let mixture simmer for 10 minutes over
low heat. Strain and discard solids, then pour into mugs and enjoy!

Now remember these drinks should be sipped on…not gulped!  It’s 36 proof so you can understand why I want to stress to drink them S L O W L Y.  Hahaha

The name alone sounds like it would kick your butt, and since you said it would, I have to believe it because as a fellow wino, I know you are looking out for me! Merry Christmas and Prosperous New Year sis.
