Hello there! I’m Tia from the blog The Chic Stay at Home Mom! I am so excited to be sharing some of my natural hair favorite things with you all. There’s still some time left to get the curly girl on your shopping list everything she needs to make sure her hair is banging for the New Year. I have been natural for almost three years and I have learned a lot during that time. After trying lots of different products I have been able to narrow my favorites down. These are a few of my Favorite Things for Natural Hair.
Co-Wash Conditioner
The TRESemme Naturals Conditioner is my favorite for co-washing. It smells great and it’s light-weight and silicone free. I also really love that you get a lot of product for your dollar. I don’t wear wash and goes as often as I use to but when I do I reach for this!
Leave-In Conditioner
I know everyone has heard of the greatness that is the Cantu Shea Butter Leave-In Conditioning Repair Cream. I LOVE this stuff. I use it on my hair after co-washing and as a regular leave-in on wash day. It is great for detangling and it leaves my hair so soft. Another plus to this product is that it also works as a styling aid. I use it on my daughter’s hair instead of using grease. You can find it anywhere but I find it to be less expensive at Target and Wal-Mart. The beauty supply store will try to stick you for your paper on this one! Ain’t nobody got time for that!
For the new Natural
When I first did my big chop in early 2010 I went bold and had my stylist shave my hair all the way down. As my little curls grew in I treated them and my scalp with Carol’s Daughter. At the time she only had her original three piece set but her collection has grown so much since then. I fell in love with her products right away. Now she offers different collections for all the stages of going natural. I wish this Big Chopper set had been around when I began my journey.
For the DIY Natural
I am brand new to the world of cutting my own hair. After doing lots of research, YouTubing and asking questions I finally took the leap. I had two really bad “trim” experiences that literally butchered me. It set my hair growth back and had my nerves completely shot. I decided to take the leap and clip my own ends. Best decision I ever made. I found some shears at Sally’s and I have not looked back.
Oils & Butters
Lastly, I wanted to include all the different oils and butters that are out there. As a natural, we know there are tons of concoctions and potions that can be made at home to pre-poo, condition and treat our hair. I encourage you to pull up some recipes and make a cute little bag like this one but with your oils and butters of course. Use holiday colors to make it more festive if you’d like. I actually like the natural brown bag look. Have fun!

Tia and I use the same co-wash and leave-in conditioners. 🙂 Although last night I used a little Tressemme Naturals as a leave-in and I like it a lot.

I used my Tresemme the other day as a leave-in since I was at my mom’s and forgot my Giovannia. I liked it a lot too!
