Sybil Gets Her 1st Sew-in!

January 27, 2016 by Alisha 4 Comments

Last month I had the pleasure of hanging out with talented Maria of The Maria Antoinette!  Maria and I first “met” when she and LaQuisha of Corner Curl Girl over 3 years ago when they had a 30-day natural hair challenge.  That’s the first of 2 challenges I’ve actually completed in the last few years by the way…LOL!  I’ve had the chance to witness Maria’s business and following grow tremendously over the years and so happy to be able to call her a friend.  Not only is she the bomb with hair and makeup, she is genuinely a nice person as well.  Nothing worse than someone being pretty on the outside with a heart of stone!

You all know that I’m not for long hair, but what I’ve been wanting since I got my taper cut was for the top to have more length.  Shrinkage is the debil and it didn’t help that my last 2 cuts totally jacked up the length on top.  -_-  I showed Maria a picture on instagram and we just knew we had to recreate that look.  I’ve never had a sew-in before so this was all new territory for me.

Maria used this gorgeous hair from Big Chop Hair, bleached it and then dyed it purple to match my hair.  And then she did her magic and viola…just like that Sybil went from cute to S E X Y !!!  LOL  Seriously though I love how it turned out and it didn’t take long at all.  The best part is that the hair is so easy to style and I didn’t have to worry about having a bad day which was even better.

I’ve included the full-length video of how she did the sew-in and would love for you to check it out and tell me what you think.  Have you ever had a sew-in?  I might be hooked now and would love to also check out Big Chop’s hair clip-ins too!  Such a great way to change up your style with no commitment.

Your hair looks fabulous! Your stylist is very creative and gifted. Years ago when I used sew-ins for protective styling, my stylist used the net. It worked so well. When I tried a regular sew-in, it was horrible and the knots were too tight.

Joan, Maria did an excellent job and I wish I could get them done more often. Might have to start putting it in with my wine budget LOL
