Let me tell ya…I’m on a roll! It’s day 3 of #NaBloPoMo and I’m keeping up. I think I deserve some type of award or a glass of wine. I’ll take the later please!
So today is all about me! It’s not like I don’t talk about myself enough already but hey I needed something to help fill up these 30 days of writing…LOL!
- I have a brother that is 7 years older than me. I remind him several times a month that he is older than me too! hahaha
- I originally majored in Elementary Education in college. After I spent a semester with 3rd and 4th graders…I changed my major. First off those kids were damn near bigger than me and I also realized I didn’t really like other people’s kids that much. So er uh…changed my major to Child Development & Family Studies and minored in Psychology. It was the smoothest transition and all those psych classes were used for my minor. Woohoo!
- With said degree I can honestly say that I have worked with just about every population out there. I’ve worked in non-profit helping the following types of clients: welfare-to-work program, domestic violence (victims and batterers), homeless outreach, chronically mentally ill and developmentally disabled individuals.
- I worked at a call center for almost 5 months. It was the WORST job I’ve ever had. THE WORST!!! Did I mention it was the worst? I did tech support for a major cell phone company and there’s nothing like being cussed out for something you have no control over. I will say that I loved when older people called in. 😉 And there was nothing worse than getting a call just before my shift ended. #soulcry
- I played the clarinet from 4-12th grade and was in the D.C. Youth Orchestra growing up. It was such a fun experience and probably why I love listening to classical music when I’m trying to concentrate on work.
- I am legally blind in my right eye. I was born with nerve damage in my right eye and can only see shapes/color out of that eye. So when I wear my contacts I just wear one. My brother always questions whether or not I should be driving. HAHA!
- I don’t like chocolate that much. When I was pregnant with my youngest daughter just the thought or smell of it would make me want to gag! So now I’m all about straight sugar candies like Skittles or Now & Laters…LOL!
- One of my favorite movies is Office Space. It’s pretty low-budget and generic but I just love silly comedies! “Have you seen my stapler?”
- I got married in Ocho Rios, Jamaica! It was the best decision because we had 6 guests and no debt! We had our wedding and honeymoon all together and it was perfect.
- I can type about 100 wpm. I think all the years of doing data entry in college helped with that. And the fact that I basically type almost every day helps too!
What are a few random facts about you? I always love learning something new about people!

We really ARE twins. I played clarinet from 6th grade to 12th. For serious. Amazing.
Also? I minored in psychology. That’s what led to me getting my masters down the line, I’m pretty sure. 🙂
And lastly? LOVE Office Space.

My brother and I always joke about the silly movies we LOVE. And how cool is it that we both played clarinet!

Lawd. You out here driving with one good eye?! I know about that call center struggle. I worked my way through college at the Sprint call center doing activations and customer service. We were young and didn’t care. We used to go off on and hand up on customers on the regular! I appreciated that little gig though, made nearly $30K. I was balling off the call center check!
Coily Locks says
I can see just fine. LOL Actually if I could see out of both eyes clearly I’d be a mess.

Oh the stories you can tell about working in a call center. Everyone needs that experience!

I like to look at it as a learning experience and not the worst 5 months of my life…LOL!!!
