Seriously, Old Man Winter has been doing a number on my skin lately. I live in Tennessee which most of you would think that means “Hey she lives in the south, what is she belly aching about?” Yeah, that’s what I thought too when I moved here from Washington, D.C.
Now as one who loves sharing all of my crazy nail art and at-home manis, having dry, crusty nails is something I don’t want and it’s sure as heck something none of you want to see. For me my skin regimen changes drastically once the temps start to drop below 45-50. During this time the heat is on full blast and that just means forced hot air is sucking up every bit of moisture that I might have had to begin with. Now if you’re fortunate enough to live in a climate where you’ll pretty much get all 4 seasons in a week, you have to pay even more attention to how you deal with your skin. Julep was awesome enough to send me this awesome infographic for tips on how to winterize your nails:
The big thing to remember is moisturize, moisturize, moisturize…and then moisturize a little bit more! LOL Seriously I drink a TON of water each day so that means a gagillion bathroom trips and me washing my hands. So I make sure and always keep my cuticle oil and a small hand lotion in my purse. Since I’ve started being more proactive about that each day I’ve noticed a huge difference and my hands feel so much better.
During this time of year I also LOVE dark colors and I’ll sometimes do something crazy on an accent finger just to jazz it up a bit. This is one of my new favorite colors because it’s almost black but has just enough of a charcoal hue.
Also Julep has a ton of AMAZING nail colors that you can peruse. I love how on their site they show 3 different skin tones on the models so you can get a better idea of how it might look on you.
So what are some of your favorite tips for winterizing your hands? Please share!
